“In addition to the reactor cores, the storage pool for highly radioactive irradiated nuclear fuel is also at risk. The pool cooling water must be continuously circulated. Without circulation, the still thermally hot irradiated nuclear fuel in the storage pools will begin to boil off the cooling water. Within a day or two, the pool’s water could completely boil away. Without cooling water, the irradiated nuclear fuel could spontaneously combust in an exothermic reaction. Since the storage pools are not located within containment, a catastrophic radioactivity release to the environment could occur. Up to 100 percent of the volatile radioactive Cesium-137 content of the pools could go up in flames and smoke, to blow downwind over large distances. We must first state that we are not anti-nuclear energy we are however as most citizens of the lower Hudson Valley, New York City and the Tri-State Area concerned over the safety of aging and safety issue plagued Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant located in Buchannan, New York.

Located just 35 miles North of Mid-Town Manhattan (New York City) on the shore of the Hudson River the Nuclear Power Plant with Multiple Reactors and Spent Fuel Pools is built right on top of the Ramapo Fault Line.  As recent as Thursday, March 10, 2011 a lawsuit over safety at the plant had been in court with the ruling in favor of the plant operators. Let us assume that Maryann De Leo and Rory Kennedy have ‘agendas’ that may predispose them to oppose the operation of Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant.  The history and science of seismology as it relates to the greater New York City and Tri-State Area and the scientists should provide the answers:

Again we state that we are not anti-nuclear energy however we must question the benefits versus the imminent ‘Nuclear Nightmare’ that is Indian Point whether by unsafe operation and outdated equipment, terrorism, or a Japan 8.2 courtesy of The Ramapo Faults?
