Light Up!

By Brigid Walshe

Ireland

You are the power,

You illuminate your own world.

Travel your path, never wondering if other lights shine brighter.

Find that switch,

For you it could have many labels

Maybe yours is marked…..

……Courage,

…….Strength,

……..Faith.

……..Worth,

Look not for a different light to lead your way.

Believe in the power of you.

Then YOUR  light will be brightest,

You will glow and will never fear the darkness.

Somewhere Between Black and White

By Brigid Walshe

Ireland

Choose to Colour your own world,

Don’t let the world,

choose to colour you.
Life paints our days,

in myriads of shades,
Opinions so black,

Furies so white,

Anger so red,

Is there Sadness in blue?

Only Shadows in grey?
Find the greens of growth,

the little yellow buds of hope,

the pinks of petals,

see silver streams.

racing down hillsides,

Turn red to the warmth,

of a glowing ember,

Feel the calmness of black,

on a peaceful night
Somewhere between black and white,

is your own rainbow.

Use it

The Artist Resurgent – KAFKA [Steven Soderbergh]

Kafka, Franz: Amerika. Roman. München: K. Wolf...

Kafka, Franz: Amerika. Roman. München: K. Wolff 1927, 392 Seiten. Erstausgabe (Wilpert/Gühring² 10) (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

“My experience, the truth is not, that convenient.” -Kafka

Segregated Group Think [S.G.T.] or if you prefer singularity in thought and reason excludes the probability of possibilities of qualified cause and effect agents.

Who distills truth does so with preconceived notions that act to filter out pre-determined impurities [possibilities], resulting in false outcomes, oversimplification, and positive outcomes for any given agenda.

This is how The Castle sets narratives to fit its agenda.  This narrative setting precedes the destruction of the individual under the façade of the common good.  The Castle constructs the nefarious common good narrative for its consolidation of power, enslavement of the faceless masses.

Who is to confront The Castle, hold The Castle accountable? Who but the revolutionary, the artist.  If the majority of artists cannot or will not break the invisible chains of servitude [soft censorship] to The Castle will there remain a remnant faithful to society, humanity?

–The artist as a Revolutionary…

Amerika has yet to apologize to PIPAPELLI or THE DIXIE CHICKS, when no one else dared, they confronted The Castle, they held The Castle accountable; remained a remnant faithful to society, humanity for at least that particular moment in history. We cannot speak for The Dixie Chicks however we do know Pipapelli continues to be faithful to society, humanity as a whole.

Cult of Personality, Corporate Logo Art designed to court favor with the king. Pepsi just a few years ago adopted their graphic design logo as well as the most recent ‘logo revamp’ by American Airlines, both in your face altered copies of The Castle logo art.

“A fairly clear line separated advertisement from art…

“I should say the first effect of the triumph of the capitalist (if we allow him to triumph) will be that that line of demarcation will entirely disappear. There will be no art that might not just as well be advertisement. I do not necessarily mean that there will be no good art; much of it might be, much of it already is, very good art. You may put it, if you please, in the form that there has been a vast improvement in advertisements… But the improvement of advertisements is the degradation of artists. It is their degradation for this clear and vital reason: that the artist will work, not only to please the rich, but only to increase their riches; which is a considerable step lower. After all, it was as a human being that a pope took pleasure in a cartoon of Raphael or a prince took pleasure in a statuette of Cellini. The prince paid for the statuette; but he did not expect the statuette to pay him.”  -~G.K. Chesterton: ‘Utopia of Usurers.

The problem with the Arts and the Artists in Amerika is not that there are not significant numbers to spark the Thought-Spirit Revolution; it is that they have all but chosen the two Segregated Group Think [S.G.T.] positions offered by The Invisible Chain of Servitude.

All over the world from the Middle East to Asia, Central and South America to Africa and Europe, the Artists are toppling The Invisible Chain of Servitude, The Castle, by dismantling the two Segregated Group Think [S.G.T.] positions they offer.

The lamentation of Amerika is the refusal of the majority of the Artist’s to break-free the faceless masses, bring about the Thought-Spirit Revolution, a role historically projected on, embraced by The Artist.

The Amerikan Artist either for commercial success and/or for soft censorship reasons has abdicated their role in society becoming instead transmission vehicles for official sanctioned messages of one of the two Authorized Versions of Truth, the narrative set by The Castle.

Corpo-Government Logos

Artists of Thought-Revolution where are you?

–The revolutionaries have a printing press…

Based loosely on Franz Kafka’s The Castle the 1991 film KAFKA produced by Steven Soderbergh clearly addresses The Artist Versus The State perhaps it may provide the necessary spark for The Artists to awaken from their slumber and once again become the standard bearer of The Struggle of The Common Man…

… Sadly much of the Art associated with this common struggle is being filed away, imprisoned in the dark recesses of government file rooms, warehouse storage facilities making it irretrievable by its creator, the common man, all the while purging text books, scrubbing the internet. -Excerpt from Artist vs.The State – KAFKA [Steven Soderbergh]

    –All evidence of the revolutionaries and their printing press are removed once they are killed…as if they never existed….

24-25 bloggers have been arrested in Izmir this night. They are charged for hatred speech in their posts on twitter. This information has been confirmed by activists living in Izmir and has appeared on very few official news agencies. The mainstream media is massively covering up for the Turkish government.

We have the responsibility to be the media, as it is becoming more and more obvious to what extent the corporate media is censuring the ongoing protests and police brutalities.

If you have any connections to activists from Izmir please provide us with additional information on the developments. -25 bloggers arrested in Turkey because of their tweets! (THIS BLOG WILL BLOW YOUR MIND)

-Jewish tomb in the cemetery…

          –secret entrance into The Castle

          –Torah, Kaballah and Jewish esoteric knowledge needed to battle the cult of death

This is symbolic of the universal nature of esotericism and esoteric knowledge in general in that it is knowledge known and guarded by the select few. It is vitally important that one understands that it matters not whether or not that this knowledge is in fact true or not, what matters is that there are those who believe it to be truth. Therefore, having an essential knowledge (a sort of spiritual anthropology so to say) of esotericism is essential to navigate the labyrinth that is The Castle.

The environment created by The Castle is rooted in madness and ultimately in our desire for Gnosis (knowledge). To “pant for knowledge” is a madness of sorts. It might be interesting to note that the ancient cult of Dionysus and the worship of Dionysus (The God of Madness and Insanity) was particularly well known for it’s drunken excess and Bacchic frenzy. In many ways, the madness that The Castle has wrought, could be interpreted as a neo-Pagan celebration of the ancient Dionysian cult.

“I can no longer deny that I am part of the world around me.” Kafka…Letter to father

The scene where Gabriela introduces Kafka to the revolutionary group is extremely useful in understanding the necessary role of The Artist [the creative class comprised of wordsmiths, musicians, painters, sculptors, photographers, filmmakers, performers et al.] in any effort to confront the power(s) of The Castle.

The first point made is that Kafka, he willingly admits, he is there for selfish reasons and not for any participation with a group.  If the individual refuses to place the requirement of the organization before the self, it is going to fail.

The second point made is the need for better creative communication, necessary role of The Artist, to connect with larger society in addition to distribution methods.

The third understanding is reliance on physical activity alone will not succeed against The Castle.  It is the Battlefield of The Mind where The Castle derives its dominance over the faceless masses.  Kafka destroyed a vital part of The Castle infrastructure but did not harm it because The Castle is Thought or even a Spirit that survives any physical attack, transforming the narrative to its need to remain in control.

This is why Kafka suffers despair when faced with the metamorphosed The Castle, succumbs to the Thought, Spirit of The Castle assimilating back into it so readily.

To defeat The Castle the mission requirement of loosening The Artist from the Segregated Group Think [S.G.T.], soft censorship must be met…Artists of Thought-Spirit Revolution where are you?

The Rose

Complexity of The Rose revealed in her Simplicity;

Simplicity of The Rose lay bare her Complexity;

Bursting [Rosebud] forth into her majestic full bloom, regal among all flowers;

Exciting the senses, filling the heart;

Soft, silky petals, moist with cool, refreshing morning dew;

Fragrant, gentle sweet aroma fills the air, rides upon the warm summer breeze;

Full expression of life, awash with vibrant color;

Ecstasy of soul her inner beauty persuades;

Joy in the heart, The Rose in a well-tended garden lay ;

Alas, of someone else her heart and beauty goes;

Forbidden to the touch, Visceral Love…The Rose

Lord Byron on The Art of Maite Salido Gusi…She Walks in Beauty

leave a comment »

She Walks in Beauty

By Lord Byron

She walks in beauty, like the night

Of cloudless climes and starry skies;

And all that’s best of dark and bright

Meet in her aspect and her eyes:

Thus mellowed to that tender light

Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,

Had half impaired the nameless grace

Which waves in every raven tress,

Or softly lightens o’er her face;

Where thoughts serenely sweet express,

How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,

So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,

The smiles that win, the tints that glow,

But tell of days in goodness spent,

A mind at peace with all below,

A heart whose love is innocent!

Artist Interview:

Artist’s name?

Maite Salido Gusi

Age?

23

Where are you from?

Hometown: Jerez De La Frontera, Andalucia, Spain

Currently residing in Madrid, Spain

You have an interesting choice of names on your Facebook page, can you give us any background on this? Justification? Is it for shock value?

I have always been connected to art in any of its forms. I used to do classic and contemporary dance, I have participated in a few plays with my school and since I can recall I have been writing, painting and drawing but in a very inconsistent basis. After a very rough patch, at the end of January one day I decided to sit myself down and start using the blank canvas and watercolors that I had forgotten in my room, and I have not been able to stop painting since then. That is why I used “Art Diarrhea” as the name for my Facebook page; I wanted to show verbally my artistic incontinence, the fact that I have not been able to control myself or to help myself lately when it comes to painting. It just happens, whether I want it or not to happen. I did not name it like that for shock value, though. If anything, I think it is funny.

What are some of your favorite artists and artworks?

I have to admit that I still have a huge lot to learn when it comes to painting and art in general; I am just a newbie taking a shy pic into this world. I do have a few artists that I admire, like Van Gogh (The Starry Night and Starry Night over the Rhone are my favorites), Claude Monet (The Pont at Montgeron), Wassily Kandinsky (I find its Composition VI astonishing) or Franz Von Stuck (The Kiss of the Sphinx). Most of those art works you can actually see together at the Hermitage Museum. I’m also in love with Agnes Cecile artwork and her watercolors outbursts. I find them powerful, fierce and passionate but delicate at the same time.

What inspires your art?

Anything can inspire what I paint, from a picture to an advertisement. I find inspiration in odd places and in weird times. I would be coming from college walking and see a Yves Saint Lauren campaign and I would immediately picture in my head a much more violent or shocking image from it. Most of the time music is in the background of my paintings, though. In fact, most of my work is named after a song, like “Lonely Hands” or “Babylon”. I think music sets the mood and the ambiance of what I do, it is always connected somehow. Also, lately I have been getting very interesting ideas from writers and literature. There are some Bukowski and Edgar Allan Poe stories that I would like to blend and integrate in future paintings.

Do you believe that art needs to be relevant? How so?

I do not think it needs to be relevant, I think art is already relevant. Everyone has had and will have some kind of connection in their lives to a form of art, whether they’re aware of it or not. Art is not only painting or drawing. I have a much wider definition for it. To me, art is music, books, movies, TV shows, advertising, philosophy, poetry, oratory… Art is whatever makes you think, whatever makes you contemplate a different point of view, whatever enables you to feel like the artist wanted you to feel and whatever takes you out of your comfort zone.

Use of colors….Your Album is titled “Black and White” where you do use color you use red to depict some very powerful emotions, hints of violence and intensity. Red is also traditionally associated with romance and love. Are there any special stories or connections you want to share with these art works?

I started painting in black and white because I felt in control of it, I felt like black and white myself. Black and White represents the transition from darkness to purity and the ambiguous place of grey. It is melancholic and soft; it allows you to focus on the feeling and the actual meaning of the whole painting without being distracted by the intensity of colors and techniques. It is raw and simple, and at the time I felt just like that. I do use red sometimes to highlight what I am feeling when I am painting. I don’t mean for the red parts of my work to reminisce love at all. If anything, I want to romanticize the concept of violence, rage or revenge, not directed towards other people but to oneself. Sometimes it is inevitable to feel like two different people, like you are your own antagonist and you find yourself boycotting your own life, ideas and projects, so you can not help but be mad at you, and feel betrayed and disgusted.  I believe there is a beauty in that confrontation as it shows that there is a struggle for identity, for becoming and knowing oneself.

“Heart Full of Wine”….Jerez is sherry.. are we to assume that this is red sherry? Also, the highlighted words in the background…”No Mas Ahora” = No More time? Without translating the entire picture can you give us an idea why there is no more time? From a casual glance I get the impression that what we are dealing with here is a sort of dysfunctional relationship? Am I correct?

It is sherry, but unfortunately I do not think there is a red kind of sherry, which would have been perfect for it. I will leave to the imagination what kind of sherry it is; Fino, Manzanilla, Amontillado, Oloroso or Pedro Ximenez. My favorite is Pedro Ximenez though! (advertising my home products!)

Heart Full of Wine represents the heartbreak after an unexpected and therefore hurtful breakup. It shows the process from confusion and hope to hate and later to self-respect, the road that leads you to turn that unreturned and unidirectional love to yourself. Hence, “No más. Ahora yo”, which means “No more. Now me”.  Again, here I try to emphasize the duality of personality that arises when confronted by rejection (you hate and despise whoever rejected you, but still seek for his or her approval and love) and I treat love and the need to feel loved as a drug that you have to get rid of in order to focus on yourself and to find that love in no one else but you.

HER DANCE CARD WAS FULL, RED SHOE SERIES. Original Paintings © Copyright jacqui faye. All Rights Reserved. jacqui faye Art used with permission(s). Please do not use without direct permission from jacqui faye.

Painting Information: (Commissions available for the Red Shoe Series)

Jacqui Faye’s most recent work, the Red Shoe series, is figurative with an unusual twist — her fictional subjects are often painted from the shoulders, waist, hips, or knees down portrayed with the always present red shoes. “In this series, which began with the Red Shoe Dailies, I try to unite the outward physical beauty of the female form with an inner confidence and poise through the painted story — interpreted, or even at times, recognized by the viewer through anonymity of the character. The pose and background communicate the emotion of the painting through romance, self-confidence, femininity, and allure. Passion is the uniting theme of the series–symbolized by the red shoes of course. But more than that, I hope the passion behind each painting will draw the viewer in to interpret the mystery or intrigue within each character.”

“Any legitimate discussion on the Blues must include the Pam Taylor Band…Smokey Blue~N~Redhot is what the Pam Taylor Band brings to the Bricks” -Legendary Radio Icon Zach Martin

About The Pam Taylor Band:

Pam Taylor – Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist

Pam Taylor is a 3rd generation musician. Her grandfather is a singer/guitar player and her father also plays the saxophone. She grew up singing, playing piano, writing and often performed in plays and with choral groups. At age 18, her father gave her her first guitar, a Washburn acoustic, in which she taught herself how to play. After discovering the blues she found her niche and hasn’t looked back.. Currently she and her father share the love of blues and are taking the local music scene by storm. They have teamed up with some of the most dedicated and talented musicians in the South East to form the Pam Taylor Band. This has been a life-long dream of Taylor who has shared the stage with such artists as Los Lobos, JP Soars, Vasti Jackson, Lionel Young, Tommy Castro, Nick Moss, Jason Ricci, Deanna Bogart, Jimmy Carpenter, Elvin Bishop and Deborah Coleman.

Mike Taylor – Saxophone

Mike started playing the sax in the school band at age 13, by the age of 14 he was playing professionally in the top 40 R&B band, The Ardells. He is influenced by Jr. Walker, King Curtis, and Boots Randolph among many others. After about 10 years of touring he called it quits to focus on family and over the last five he has gotten back to his roots, the blues, and is tearing up the stage alongside his daughter.

Kyle Phillips – Lead Guitar

Kyle Phillips is a locally known musician who began playing guitar at the age of 8 years old. His major influences have been Joe Bonamasa, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jack White, Eric Clapton,Tommy Castro and Craig Landau, just to name a few. He has been very active in the music scene around the Concord and Charlotte, NC. area as well as Lancaster, SC. His preferred instrument is the electric guitar but he also enjoys playing the bass and harmonica. He is lead guitarist for The Pam Taylor Band

Rusty Gilreath – Bass

Rusty Gilreath started playing bass at age 14, in jazz band at school. Playing in various groups around Gastonia earned him a spot playing his summers at Carowinds in live shows. He played in various R and B and Jazz bands in College, and has jammed or played with acts as diverse as Harry Chapin, Merle Haggard, Chuck Mangione, and the Marshall Tucker Band. His main influences are Carl Radle, Stanley Clarke, Rick Danko and Ron Carter. No matter what style of music he played at the time, his love of the blues has always been the driving force and is loving holding down the groove for PTB.

Gerry Hagstedt – Drummer

Gerry Hagstedt had a passion for percussion and started playing at the age of 9. He spent several years studying the fundamentals of drumming before starting to play on a drum kit. He grew up listening to Southern Rock and Blues. His favorite Drummer was the Marshal Tucker band drummer, Paul Riddle. After college, in the 80’s he recorded his first album with The Racket, a new wave band, co-writing several of the tracks. His most recent release is the 2011 Turnbuckle Jones album with the Josh Burch Band. A laid back “mash-up” of rock, alternative; folk/americana and country. He is looking forward to his first Blues based Album with the Pam Taylor Band. Gerry has played Jazz, free form Jam band music and Southern Rock. But his passion is Blues. His first concert was the legendary Muddy Waters opened for the Allman Brothers Band and he was hooked on the Blues.
